Molloy (novel)
What is the importance of the forest in the novel, Molloy?
.
.
The forest is a symbolic instantiation of the absurdity of existence, particularly due to its disorientating spatiality. Both Molloy and Moran seem to lose their sense of purpose increasingly the more time they spend in the forest. Away from the stimuli of urban spaces, the forest also embodies the porous subjectivities of the protagonists.
