Given its subject matter, the language of Miracle Creek is punctuated with both legal and medical jargon. Kim begins the work with a working medical definition of “hyperbaric oxygenation” directly from Mosby’s Medical Dictionary (3). Yet as with any trial, medical and legal jargon is simplified into layman’s terms in order to allow for accessibility and ease of understanding. Additionally, Kim includes visuals of trial exhibits to foster understanding of the circumstances surrounding the events. Through court testimony, Kim provides a simplified explanation of Hyperbaric Oxygenation Therapy (HBOT).
