What is the setting in the poetry collection, Milk and Honey?

There is no specific indication anywhere in the collection of the events or experiences being described or explored taking place in any particular location. There is an implied sense that the experiences being described took place in the Western Hemisphere, a sense arising from two factors. The first is a reference made to the poet-author-speaker to her family's origins in India, while the second is a sense that as a result of her having built a life for herself in a socio-cultural environment other than India, it is possible for the poet-author-speaker to have and explore the attitudes around female independence, particularly sexuality and body image, that she does in the text.
