The members of the community share several nice meals together. The shared meals represent their strong tie as a community as they gather to commune and partake nourishment. Bobo and Joe introduce Manfred to the town members by taking him to the restaurant. He asks Fiji to go out to eat in an effort to be nice, and she brings him food to welcome him.

Joe and Chuy invite Bobo and Manfred to dinner to try to make Bobo feel better, which Bobo does afterward. At the end of the narrative, while everyone is eating after the Halloween event, Manfred thinks of how he has been having a great time since moving to Midnight.

The Lovell family are the only people who do not commune with the others through meals, which symbolizes that they do not fit.
