Murakami creates many hilarious situations within Gregor Samsa's adjustment to being human, including his navigation of stairs, his discovery of his ten wayward and gangly fingers, and his surprise at his sexual organ's ability to act of its own accord. Each of these situations help Murakami put a magnifying glass over tiny aspects of the human condition that most of us have long taken for granted or have simply given no thought to over the years, while simultaneously entertaining the reader with his hilarious depictions of Gregor's struggles with his new body.
