How does Kino come to own a bar and what had he done for work prior to the purchase?

Kino had been working for the same sporting goods company for 17 years when he discovered that his wife had been having an affair with a colleague of his at the company. He was 39 when this occurred and he immediately quit his job and took his aunt up on her offer to let him take over the bar business she had been running for many years.
