How is Hannah's life in New York different from what she expected in the novel, Maybe in Another Life?

Although Hannah has heard that New York is “where dreams come true,” this is not the case in Hannah’s experience (3). While in New York, Hannah finds herself in a relationship with a married man named Michael. After they finally break up, Hannah realizes that she has very little else in the city.
