What does Marie see in her first vision in the book, Matrix: A Novel?

In the vision, Marie sees the labyrinth with a yellow broom flower in the center. She believes the broom flower represents herself and signifies her role as the abbey's guardian, protecting it from the potential dangers of the outside world where she believes "the beasts of the apocalypse are roaming" (101).
