What is the author's style in Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon?

The point of view of the novel is third person omniscient, including many passages of story told in the authorial voice. As an epic novel covering four generations of one family, the narration of the novel changes through the decades, beginning as a third person point of view and moving at times into a more authorial voice in order to cover large sections of time in the lives of several characters. The first part of the book follows Jamie McGregor through his adventures as he becomes a diamond prospector and then seeks revenge on a man who cheated him out of his share of a diamond discovery. In this part, the point of view moves among several characters, including Jamie, his friend Banda, and his wife Margaret. After Jamie's death, the narration shifts to his manager, David Blackwell, and his daughter, Kate. When Kate has a child, the narration again shifts to follow her son's story before moving on the tell the story of Kate's granddaughter's, Eve and Alexandra.
