Fairyland is a place which Mary Poppins, Jane, and Michael discuss in "The Day Out.” It is, according to their conversation, a location which each person creates for themselves since it is tailored to every individual's preferences, hopes, and dreams. Mary Poppins visits Fairyland with the man she appears to be in love, making her Fairyland a very beautiful, romantic location full of biscuits and other sweet treats. For Jane and Michael, their initial understanding of Fairyland was that it was the same place for all people, looking like something out of a book. Their realization that Mary's Fairyland is nothing like theirs makes them view it as a symbol of individuality and dreams.
