How is Jane described in the novel, Mary Poppins?

Jane is described as being a very kind-hearted, gentle girl. She is silly and mischievous at times, but always very warm, even when Michael hurts her or is in a bad mood and says rude things to her. She does not hold it against him and is forgiving.
