How did Engels and Marx meet and become friends as noted in the book, Marx for Beginners?

Engels wrote a piece on economics and condition of the working poor for the "Annuals," which Marx was working on in Paris. The two became friends. Marx was unpopular with European governments and France expelled him and then Brussels. Back in Germany, Marx began the "New Rhenish Gazette" with Engels.
