How did Marley get his name in the memoir, Marley and Me?

Neither John nor Jenny had heard of Bob Marley, but soon became big fans of his reggae sound. When they discussed what to name the dog, the name Marley seemed to be the right choice. John registered him officially as Grogan's Majestic Marley of Churchill, after the street that they lived on.
