Miss Lottie is an older woman, who lives with and cares for her mentally challenged son, John. Miss Lottie, like the rest of the townspeople, is poverty stricken and doing her best to survive the Depression. In addition to caring for her son..... she care for the marigolds that she loves.... the one beautiful thing in her very difficult life.
