Who is Froebel from Maria Montessori: Her Life and Work and what is their importance?

Froebel is a man famed for his research and written work in the field of education. He was a predecessor of Montessori's. They shared an intense desire to protect and to nurture children, and they respected the little people a great deal. Froebel did not have a sense of "work" as part of childrens' lives the way Montessori did. He was known to have also served as a soldier in the Napoleonic Wars.
