The tragic trio includes "those aspects of human existence which may be circumscribed by: (1) pain; (2) guilt; and (3) death." Since Frankl believes life can be meaningful under any circumstance, he argues that keeping an optimistic mindset allows people the opportunity to turn suffering into achievement, improve oneself, and act to take responsibility.
