Maid is written entirely from the perspective of author, narrator, and main character Stephanie Land. The exception is the foreword, which is written from the perspective of Barbara Ehrenreich. As such, the foreword is the only time when readers are given an outside perspective on Stephanie and her story. The rest is told from the internal, personal point of view. Land writes in first person limited omniscient, as does Ehrenreich. For this reason, each section of the book reflects the opinions, points of view, and perspectives of the author who wrote them.
