What do magnolias represent in the film, Magnolia?

In every room shown in the film, there is at least one picture of flowers. Throughout the film, we are reminded that everyone is connected in some way. Every character has some connection to the film What Do Kids Know? Thus, they all have connections to each other as well. The magnolia symbolizes that they are all connected.
