Café ‘Ino was an Italian café and wine bar on Bedford Street in Greenwich Village. Smith lived a short walk from it, across Sixth Avenue, and had ‘her’ table in it. She liked to sit in a corner between the coffee machine and the window, drinking black coffee. For her meals there, she would have brown bread, olive oil, and bean soup. The café had wooden floors, chairs, and tables as well as an orange façade.
