Why was Song beaten? What were Chin's choices for further punishment for Song?

Song was punished for her deviant lifestyle, more specifically for living a life of privilege and pleasure while much of her country lived in poverty. Her beating also seems to do with Song;s homosexual acts. Chin chooses to send Song to a commune to work in the fields.
