Why is Gallimard's experiment with Song considered a success when she claims that she has given him her shame?

Gallimard feels tremendous guilt in acquiring Song's shame, but it does support Gallimard's theory that scorning a woman will increase her want. He feels that Song has a need to be abused, and he had few qualms doing that.
