Renee is a young and beautiful Dutch student that Gallimard meets at one of is social functions. She comes on to him, and they carry out an affair. Gallimard soon comes to realize that she is not the kind of woman she is used to. She is free with her body and her ideas, coming across to Gallimard as masculine in nature with the dominance she shows with her body and her ideas. She is pragmatic and glib, and enjoys the perks of being young and wealthy.
