Why is Akila thrilled to be going to Comic Con in the novel, Luster?

Akila is excited to go to Comic Con because she loves fandom and wants to express herself and her interests to the wider world, not just the small community where she does not quite fit in as the only Black child at her school and in her neighborhood.
