Why does Chubs kidnap a waitress in the book, Lucky You: A Novel?

Chub becomes obsessed with a Hooter's waitress and eventually has her kidnapped with the hopes that she will fall in love with him and agree to run away with him. Ultimately, this does not happen, and Chubs dies on the island die to an infection.
