What is A Green Seashell?

This green seashell is a symbol of the picture of Arthur and his father that Ani is unable to find when she looks for it to return it to Arthur’s mother. Later Ani finds a seashell from the frame in the cabinet under the sink when she is looking for a box of garbage bags. She shows the shell to Luke the night before their wedding and demands to know what he had done with the picture. It is the discovery of this shell that marks the ending of Ani’s affection for Luke.
