Who is Habibi?

Habibi is the man Young goes to Thailand with in Part IV, though he spends the entire trip thinking about Gyu-ho. Young and Habibi are in a casual relationship; they met on Tinder, a dating app, and they know very little about each other. Young refers to Habibi as "A body in a suit" (195), suggesting that he is simply someone Young is using for sex and/or to stave off loneliness. Young notes that Habibi is in his 40s and that he studied economics at Columbia University in the United States. He seems to be in Thailand on business, and has invited Young along for companionship. One night, after Habibi passes out from drinking, Young sees a message on his phone from a wife or husband that he believes says something about a cancer diagnosis, but the message is in Mandarin and Young is not fluent.
