Who is Carl from Lost and Found and what is their importance?

Carl and his teammate Jeff are brothers from Boston. They were born a year apart, married a year apart and divorced a year apart and Jeff quips that he is always one step behind his older brother, Carl. Carl's marriage ends when his son, Benjamin is two (a year previously) and he and his wife Jackie can't cope with the extra stress of child rearing. It is Jeff's idea to participate in Lost and Found after having tried to get on both Survivor and The Amazing Race without success and Jeff talks Carl into coming on the show with him. At first a bit reluctant, Carl finds he is enjoying it more than he thought he would, largely because of Jeff's company.
