Lost Names: Scenes from a Korean Boyhood

How are Korean people portrayed in the book? - Do they all have the same views, beliefs, traditions, and lifestyles? Are they different?

Thank you immensely

The Korean people are depicted as being in possession of great inner strength and a strong faith in God. Though they are forced to give up many of their traditions, for the most part, the adults are able to keep them alive.... to pass them down to their families. Some of the people rebel by refusing to give up those traditions that the Japanese attempt to erase from their lives, others, like Mr. Kim, shows his resistance in small ways. In response to the lifestyles of the Korean people, there are obvious differences in status and social position, as evidenced in Kim's refusal to eat white rice in front of the other children at school.
