In Morrison's two poems about Oswald, he questions the identity of the
assassin. Although it was commonly assumed that JFK's murderer was Lee Harvey
Oswald, many had doubts. Morrison echoes those doubts in these poems. Morrison
refers to the assassination as the modern circles of hell, and it uses the metaphor of
escaping from light into dark as Oswald leaves the swarming streets of Dallas to escape
inside the movie theater.
