Long Way Down

What is Will’s emotional and mental state when he sees Shawn is dead? What sensory details or figurative details from the novel tell us how he is thinking?

Will appears to be slightly detached from what is going on and in a state of shock when he sees Shawn is dead. Will describes feeling as if he is underwater and does not remember exactly if he was asked questions or not when asked by the police. His mouth is clenched tightly which signifies anger. He also has the random thought that blood under the streetlights looks like chocolate syrup which signals dissociation.
