What is the main conflict in Long Time Coming by Sandra Brown?

The novel's main conflict is internal, revolving around David's desire to learn about his parentage, his grandmother's determination to for his father to take responsibility, and his aunt's (mother's) determination to do the right thing for the teenage boy she has been raising as her own.
