What metaphors are used in Listening Woman by Tony Hillerman?

In many ways, this book is the typical good versus evil story. First, there are the brothers, James and Benjamin Tso, who represent the two extremes of good and evil. Benjamin, the priest, is the good of this equation. He has given himself to the priesthood and, when the situation calls for it, gives his life to give Leaphorn a chance to save the other captives. Benjamin's sole weakness seems to be that he cared for Theodora Adams to the point that he allowed his feelings to interfere with his vows as a priest. Benjamin seeks to excuse James's actions by saying that James remained with their father and that James witnessed their father's death.
