Who is John the Apostle from Life of Christ and what is their importance?

John was the youngest Apostle and likely the most educated. He is referred to in the Gospels as the disciple "whom Jesus loved", and he was the only Apostle to follow Christ to his Crucifixion. John later authored much of the New Testament, including the Gospel of John.
