Le Morte d'Arthur

After Igraine gives birth to Arthur, Merlin demands that Uther keep his promise and hand the infant over to be raised by Sir Ector as his own child. Uther then sent for Sir Ector, who receieved many gifts for agreeing to the arrangement. Upon the baby's birth, Sir Ector has the boy christened and named Arthur. Later, King Uther's health declines and his kingdom is slowly being overtaken by enemies. Right before his Uther's death, Merlin's urges him to name Arthur as his heir and King. Uther does so.
