Although Chimene loves Don Rodrigue, why does she beg the King to punish him for killing her father?

Chimene mentions the past service of her father, Don Gomes, to the King, and how the blood spilling from his body upon his death calls out to her for vengeance. In addition, she says that Don Rodrigue kills a great warrior in her father, and as a result he does even greater damage to the kingdom than to Chimene herself.
