How does the dean believe Christine Braman is involved in the mystery in Chapter 14?

When Susan Carol mentions that Christine Braman was the person who helped to connect them with the dean, the dean says he never talked to this person. The dean thinks there is a connection between the mystery woman and Chip's blackmailing. The dean tells Chip about the wife of the man who Chip's father got the head coaching job over at Davidson--and the woman's name is Christine Braman.
