Georgie is different from the other main characters in the fact she is the only one who openly chooses to isolate herself from society. Unlike the others, she is educated; she has a family, and a family who can support her. The only difference is that she is a gay transvestite. In this respect, she symbolizes someone who has the ability to highlight the problems in society and even bring the different factions together.
