What does Krapp do with the first banana in the play, Krapp’s Last Tape?

When Krapp gets his first banana in the play he first strokes the banana, peels it, drops the skin on the ground, puts the end in his mouth and stands motionless before finally biting off the end and paces back and forth on stage.
