In Parson's Pleasure, Cyril Boggis has made a living out of deceiving people. In order to procure antiques for his shop in Chelsea, he tours the countryside dressed as a clergyman. He convinces homeowners to sell him their valuable furniture for low prices. When he finds a rare commode, he expects the purchase to make him rich and famous.
