What is Mare's Earrings?

Mare’s earrings are a set of gemstones that she wears in each ear. The stones were given to her by Tramy, Bree, Shade, and Kilorn, and they represent her link to her “brothers in blood and bond” (15). Cal gives her a fifth set after her escape from Maven, but she does not put it in her ear. After he agrees to take control of Norta, Mare finds the earrings in her pocket. While the gemstones from her brothers represent loyalty and connection, Cal’s represents betrayal and the lack of bond between her and Silvers.
