How does the author use foreshadowing in Killers of the Dawn?

Leonard telling Shan and the rest of the group about the special tunnels and caverns the Vampaneze built to capture and kill them foreshadows the group getting caught up in these tunnels when they return to try to capture the Lord of the Vampaneze.
