Vic's eyedrops represent one of the ways he is different from other kids his age. Vic has Moebius syndrome, which makes it so that he cannot blink and his eyes get dry easily. As a result, Vic carries around Visine eyedrops which he uses frequently. This item, along with his iPod with The Flower Duet on it, is one of the objects Vic always carries around. It is something ordinary and everyday to him, but something that sets him apart from other kids. Baz, Coco, Nzuzi, and Mad are all understanding about Vic's Moebius and never ask about why he uses eyedrops or say that that's weird. They are supportive and when he is critiqued or pointed at, they come to his defense. By the end of the novel, Vic has learned from his friends and is able to defend himself against strangers and explain to little rude kids why even though his face may look a little different, he is just the same as them.
