Who is Callistus from Julian and what is their importance?

Callistus was Julian's bodyguard and the person ultimately responsible for Julian's death. As Julian's murderer, we see how fickle loyalty actually was. Callistus claims his actions were meant to end Julian's heathen influence and protect Christianity. The fact that he also lined his pockets with the money he received somewhat belies his claimed intent.
