Describe Julian's relationship with his father in the novel, Julian?

Julian's father is not a demonstrative man and he does not seem to know how to show love or affection to his son, Julian. The father and son are never close and seldom talk. However, Julian's father once tells an estate manager that Julian is the best part of the estate. Thus Julian knows that his father thinks highly of him even though he is too shy to show his feelings outwardly.
