Son of Salina and John Dutton, Johnny Dutton dreams os attending West Point and joins the Confederate Army when war is declared. Injured in a battle, Johnny suffers a wound that will never heal. The bullet that penetrated his lung cannot be removed, and Johnny bleeds to death soon after going home.
