Who is Jim from Jubilee and what is their importance?

Jim was Vyry and Randall Ware's son. He was born into slavery at Shady Oaks, and he is certain that the end of slavery will also end the back-breaking work expected of slaves. He wants to go to school, and he is actually on the verge of leaving home when Randall Ware appears with a plan that will allow him to do just that.
