What gifts did Slocum receive as he left the island?

Slocum was given a fond farewell from the islanders and a set of baskets of fruit. An American gave the captain a goat for company and another person gave Slocum some crickets to ward off the loneliness. Both turned out to be bad ideas. The goat did not sail well; even the crickets given to Slocum had died after he had forgotten to feed them.
