Slocum discusses historical events and tragedies that occurred in St. Helena. Slocum recounted hangings in the olden days as well as the alleged presence of witches during Puritan Cotton Mather's time. Although hanging had long since gone out of style, crime was rare on St. Helena. Slocum also talks about his visit to Longwood, the home of Napoleon.
