Jim Glass from Jim the Boy: A Novel is 10 years old and lives with his mother, Cissy. He doesn not know his father at all as he died shortly after he was born. His uncles take care of the family, helping them out however they can. Jim is conflicted as he grows up, wanting to impress and emulate his uncles, but falling short.
