Even if Lily had reported Ryle and fought for sole custody, her chances were slim. The lawyers Lily spoke to told her that because Ryle has no criminal history and he has the money for the best lawyers, she should work it out civilly with him. The arrangement Ryle was agreeing to at the time was her best option.
